The Great Divide

I'M OVER IT!  Yeah, that is probably not the best way to open a blog post that you want people to read, but it properly describes my feelings towards virtually everything...

There is a popular trend on Tik Tok right now that describes our world right now.  I am not going to encourage you to go find it, because it does have profanities in it.  I came across it by an accident.... But after I saw it, my thought was, this is America right now.  A guy yells, what's your name and the other guy answers, and then he yells a profanity back at him.  Then the other guy says, what's your name, and the bit repeats itself.  These guys obviously did not know each other, just got introduced, and were divided.  Yes, I know it is a Tik Tok and is meant for entertainment, but it is a picture into our lives today in this country, in this world...

Ok, let me explain myself a little and if you will indulge me and walk with me on this to it's conclusion, I think we will find ourselves on the same side in the end.

We did not get this way over night.  This was a conscientious effort on the part of The Enemy to cause chaos and stir trouble... and right now the enemy is winning, but has not won.  See here is the problem.  This great divide is dividing homes, church, communities, cities, states, countries, and the world.  This divide is caused by one thing and one thing only.

We have chosen philosophies over people!  That is 110% of the problem.   It time to realize that ideologies and philosophies will not change the world.  When we put our personal ideologies over people then we fail... miserably.  Now, understand this, I do not consider faith in Christ an ideology or philosophy, but instead part of who you are.  It is reconnecting with your maker, so I am not saying put people above Christ.  I am saying let's get priorities in order once again.  Let's stop calling people ____ists or ____aphobes.  Let's stop being at odds with Republicans, Democrats, Libertarians, or any other party.  Let's stop dividing along the lines of Mask or no mask, Covid or Conspiracy, BLM or ALM!

Let's start treating people with the respect with which Christ treated people!  The pharisees confronted Christ and asked what is the most important commandment and Christ replied, make sure you put your personal political and ideological preferences first and foremost... Right?  NO, NO, NO!  He said this,

"But when the Pharisees heard that he had silenced the Sadducees with his reply, they met together to question him again. One of them, an expert in religious law, tried to trap him with this question: “Teacher, which is the most important commandment in the law of Moses?” Jesus replied, “‘You must love the Lord your God with all your heart, all your soul, and all your mind.’ This is the first and greatest commandment. A second is equally important: ‘Love your neighbor as yourself.’ The entire law and all the demands of the prophets are based on these two commandments.”  Matthew 22:34-40

This is telling!  Christ did not divide people, He united people.  He said there are only 2 most important things in life.  Love HIM and Love People.  He taught something that we would do good to understand today.  People are not drawn to division, they are drawn to unity.  Unity is accomplished when we understand that it can only occur when their is a common objective, in this case, PERFECT LOVE.  Christ did not cast people out over their sin, political differences, religious differences, or anything else.  He shared perfect, unconditional love, which comes from GOD ALMIGHTY, which is compelling.  This compulsion drove them to God, not away, and as a result they formed a relationship with Christ and then HE shared the next instruction, "Go and Sin No More."

Ok, I know I am rambling...  Let me get back to my first sentence.  "I am over it."  I am over the arguing, I am over the bickering, I am over the politics, I am over the hatred, I am over the personal preferences.  I am over DIVISION!

Can we get back to the important thing?  Christ and His Kingdom?  Worship?  Church?  Family?  Friends?  We are #STRONGERTOGETHER! I think this lockdown has been devastating to the church and to unity because we sit behind keyboards and cast stones... Wait, no BOULDERS at each other and absolutely destroy each other.  We tell people to stay back 6 foot, put a mask on, when we need a hug, a handshake, a loving embrace from a brother and sister in Christ.  Look, I understand, there is a disease, it is real, and it can be harmful to some people, but LOVE people... Love them with a real love that comes from God.  Let's stop being petty and seeing how many things can divide us and do good, as God is Good.   The truth is that this is what the world needs and all it needs.  This can solve ALL THE PROBLEMS of this world.

You may not agree with me, but guess what, that is ok as well.  You know why?  I will still love you.

My rambling 2 cents for today...

In Christ,

Michael

Shepherd their hearts

This past week of tragedy points out a critical flaw in the parenting style of America! What is this flaw?  It is the flaw of failure of shepherding the hearts of our children!  We are so busy as a nation appeasing our children, befriending our children, and trying to make our children happy at any expense that we have failed in the simple act shepherding them. We ask the question of our children, what do YOU  want to do, what makes YOU happy, how do YOU want to do this and that?  When did we stop asking ourselves, "What is best for them?"  I believe that at the time that Children became the center of the household, rather than Christ guiding the parents as the center of the household, we lost our way.  PARENTS... Stop and ask yourself, if you had the same decision making ability in your arsenal at birth-18 years old as we put in the arsenal of our children's hands today, would you have made wise decisions for your entire household? NO!!!! ...

On the Right Path

I am on the right path.  This is something that I can say with great certainty at this point.  How can I say this with assurance?   Well, people having been speaking truth into my life over the past couple of weeks.  I am not going to lie.  On Monday, October 15th, I woke up and said, “What am I doing?  I just quit my job of 11 years... with no prospect of a job!”  I spent some time on the road that day going to recover my camper from Talladega and had time to think and pray in the truck.  God flooded my heart with peace.  Peace that this was a call from him, not my flesh.   Still, I was wondering... Wondering what I was supposed to do now.  I knew that God was calling me to something that goes beyond just an impact on youth, and instead something that impacts the family as a whole.  I was feeling deep in my heart that this was a call to pastorate or a teaching/preaching/next steps ministry.   How did this come on my h...
