Standing at the Precipice

All of us who know Christ are standing at the edge of something big!  Why?  Because of the fact that we are indwelled by the Spirit of God and empowered by Him.  The big thing is different for each of us and the biggest thing that we are standing on the edge of is an eternity with Him.  But the big does not have to wait for eternity.  There are big things that Gd wants to do in our life now.  So what is holding us back?  The truth is it is our own fears and insecurities coupled with the desire to please others rather than Christ.  Far too often we allow the opinions and desires of other people to dictate what we will do for Christ rather than Christ himself.  You takes those opinions and then mash them together in the blender of life with our predicting fears and it is a recipe for a life full of doing NOTHING!
God desires to do exceptionally great things in our lives.   He takes us to the edge of a precipice, shows us the wonder out things He has made, extends His hand, and says “Do you trust me?”   The truth is most of us look out at the edge of this awesome moment with God and say, I trust you, but not that much.  The storms of the opinions of others and the wind of their quiet (sometimes no quiet) Judgment whip around us, and the lighting of our own fears flashes in the distance, and we step back.  We whisper to God, I love you, but I cannot do this right now.  Folks, the time is now.  Let’s step out into the unknown and if God takes us to a precipice and says, Do you trust me enough to leap?  SAY YES!  Leap into the unknown.  The exilleration of trusting in God will wipe away our own fear and the opinions of others.  There is something amazing that God wants to do in your life (and mine) today.  Take the leap and trust in Him.

That’s my 2 cents for today...

Shepherd their hearts

This past week of tragedy points out a critical flaw in the parenting style of America! What is this flaw?  It is the flaw of failure of shepherding the hearts of our children!  We are so busy as a nation appeasing our children, befriending our children, and trying to make our children happy at any expense that we have failed in the simple act shepherding them. We ask the question of our children, what do YOU  want to do, what makes YOU happy, how do YOU want to do this and that?  When did we stop asking ourselves, "What is best for them?"  I believe that at the time that Children became the center of the household, rather than Christ guiding the parents as the center of the household, we lost our way.  PARENTS... Stop and ask yourself, if you had the same decision making ability in your arsenal at birth-18 years old as we put in the arsenal of our children's hands today, would you have made wise decisions for your entire household? NO!!!! ...

On the Right Path

I am on the right path.  This is something that I can say with great certainty at this point.  How can I say this with assurance?   Well, people having been speaking truth into my life over the past couple of weeks.  I am not going to lie.  On Monday, October 15th, I woke up and said, “What am I doing?  I just quit my job of 11 years... with no prospect of a job!”  I spent some time on the road that day going to recover my camper from Talladega and had time to think and pray in the truck.  God flooded my heart with peace.  Peace that this was a call from him, not my flesh.   Still, I was wondering... Wondering what I was supposed to do now.  I knew that God was calling me to something that goes beyond just an impact on youth, and instead something that impacts the family as a whole.  I was feeling deep in my heart that this was a call to pastorate or a teaching/preaching/next steps ministry.   How did this come on my h...
